Prix in that it's a genuine (probably 1950s) one. It looks like
the spirit transfer type (as in vintage motorcycles or old Airfix
kits). The image is covered with paper which is peeled off when
the decal is in place. The left image shows the decal cover paper,
the right hand one shows the image by shining a strong light
though it. The heart-shaped printing on the paper says "Fabbrica

Magazine 1950. A bound volume
of "Britain's motor sporting weekly from the very
start: Volume 1. Number 1 in August 1950 to Vol. 1 no. 19 of
December 29 1950. The first ever editorial starts: "In
presenting the new weekly, AUTOSPORT, we feel confident that
we shall give our readers a service which cannot be surpassed.." I
wonder if they expected to be still going 56 years and over
two and a half thousand issues later. Coincidentally the first
issue was published the same week as the debut of the V16 BRM,
the second issue covering its embarrassing start line failure.

way we were… A fascinating facsimile copy of the
first two years of the New Zealand Vintage Car Club’s magazine
exactly as it appeared half a century ago. There would
probably have been a maximum of 100 copies printed for members
of the emerging club and few single issues have survived, let
alone the first two complete volumes as presented here in an
elegant collector’s library edition with British Racing

PRIX PHOTOGRAPH. Graphic official
panoramic shot of Fangio and Moss in the works Mercedes-Benz
W196s bracketing Ascari’s D50 Lancia away from the start. It
was the only Grand Prix that season that the Mercedes team did not win
and it was Ascari’s last race. The works Mercedes
cars all retired with the same minor mechanical problem and Ascari
took the lead only to lose control at the chicane and plunge
through the barriers into the harbour. A few days later
he was killed testing a Ferrari sports car at Monza. The
race was won by Frenchman Maurice Trintignant in an outdated
Ferrari and his facsimile signature is on this photograph copied
from the private collection of Eoin Young as a limited edition. £80 |

1970 World Cup Rally as a first-hand account from a competitor.
Kahn joined Peter Jopp and Willy Cave in a BMC 1800 driving across
Europe as far as Belgrade and Sofia, before turning towards Lisbon.
The Rally continued in Rio de Janeiro and ran to Buenos Aires
before turning North and running all the way up South America,
through Panama to finish in Mexico City. Great photographs. In
